Bangkok, 30 July 2009 – DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, has launched a “Stop for Safety” campaign from July 15-31 in Asia Pacific. Led by DHL Supply Chain, the campaign reaches out to 20,000 employees across 700 sites in 16 countries and is designed to drive awareness on occupational health and safety across its extensive network of offices, warehouses and transport distribution in Asia Pacific. Promoting the message ‘Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility’ DHL Supply Chain will conduct workshops for staff to reiterate the importance of safety and health standards at the work place.
“A major thrust of ‘Stop for Safety’ campaign is to encourage every employee to review safety steps and take responsibility, both for themselves and their colleagues. Our people are our greatest asset and it is therefore important to continue investing in training, safety equipment and awareness campaigns for our employees,” said Paul Graham, Chief Executive Officer, DHL Supply Chain Asia Pacific.
Craig Hope-Johnstone, Country Manager, DHL Supply Chain Thailand said, “DHL recognizes that safety at the workplace is beneficial not only for the employees, but also for the customers - and as such we are fully committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Our staff is responsible for deploying and actively supporting the company’s overall safety program and through this ‘Stop for Safety’ campaign we are ensuring that all employees in Thailand are equipped with the necessary expertise and knowledge to carry out their work safely in all areas of the company.”
At the heart of this safety campaign is the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management policy which requires people at all levels to be responsible and accountable for their actions. As part of the DHL Stop for Safety campaign, employees will participate in workshops that aims to raise safety awareness and identify potential risks.
DHL has a robust occupational safety and health framework that aims to cultivate good safety habits in all individuals and create strong safety culture at the workplace. “As the world’s leading logistics company, DHL works with a global network of safety professionals to monitor its compliance with regulatory requirements, and works on ways to avoid injuries and accidents,” said Orla Hahn, Senior Director, Safety, Quality & Environment Asia Pacific and Global Quality Assurance Lead, DHL Supply Chain.
