Body Fashion (Thailand) Limited is very pleased to announce that it has secured interviews for over 3,900 jobs with a wide variety of prominent companies for the 1,930 workers who will be displaced by the recently announced downsizing of its Bangplee factory. BFT will be working with the Ministry of Labour to hold a job fair early next week where its workers who will be leaving the company can be interviewed for new positions by these companies. Naturally all BFT employees who are leaving the company will receive their full severance packages regardless of their future employment.
In line with its global restructuring program, Triumph’s manufacturing unit in Thailand, Body Fashion (Thailand) Limited, recently announced a reduction in sewing capacity of approximately 37%. 1,930 employees at the Bangplee factory will be made redundant as a result of this change effective August 28, 2009. The Bangplee factory will continue to operate at a reduced capacity with the remainder of the employees. Severance arrangements for employees who will be leaving the BFT in all cases exceed the requirements of Thai employment law.
The company deeply regrets that any job losses are necessary, but Body Fashion continues to make every possible effort to ensure that all affected employees are being treated fairly and with respect for their contributions to the company. The company is pleased that it is able to help its workers who will be made redundant quickly reenter the workforce.
